This hands-on course provides a foundational understanding of infectious diseases, how disease transmission is reduced and prevented in healthcare and resources available to educators. Hands on activities, including donning and doffing PPE and effective hand hygiene and disinfectant use will be demonstrated to give educators basic knowledge of these critical processes and how to implement these activities in their classrooms.
Learning Objectives: 1. Understand where germs live, how they are transmitted to cause infection, and what strategies we can use to prevent infection. 2. Identify resources available to help support effective IPC education in Healthcare CTE Classrooms. 3. Review and practice proper PPE donning and doffing processes, effective hand hygiene and disinfectant use.
This presentation will cover the steps of becoming an author of ACTE/CTE Learn courses. CTE Learn is the national online professional development component of ACTE. Course requirements, format template and author support with be shared with the attendees. Peer-to-peer education has practical implications for prevention and intervention among young drivers. Teens in the Driver Seat (TDS), a school-based traffic safety program, improves driving knowledge and behavior among teens. Learn about the program, its incentives and free resources it has to offer. The TDS resources would be valuable for use in an FCCLA chapter or FCS classroom, particularly in the Family & Community Advocacy course.
