Continual public education is necessary to combat the media hype that complicates the consumer-role in selecting the best foods for themselves and their families. Nebraska Extension is a trusted educational resource for every Nebraskan and is well-positioned to concentrate on wheat as a valuable and nutritious Nebraska agricultural product. Session participants will 1. Better understand the difference between wheat foods and whole-wheat foods, 2. Savor the rich flavors associated with nutrient-rich recipes that are easy and delicious to make and serve daily, 3. Be inspired and confident to adapt current recipes to contain more whole wheat, 4. Understand the nutritional value of incorporating whole grains into their diets, 5. Understand the role of wheat in the American diet and food safety chain.
